Bruce Peninsula National Park is located 10 kms from Tobermory, a harbour village and a very popular vacation destination in the province of Ontario and about about 290 kms or almost 4 hours from Toronto. The park is very popular for camping, hiking and swimming in its beautiful clear turquoise waters. It is also very popular for its famous attractions such as the Grotto, Indian Head Cove and the Natural Arch.
Presqu’ile Provincial Park is an Ontario Provincial Park located on the shores of Lake Ontario and near the city of Brighton. The park is a bird migration hotspot and is therefore, very popular with birdwatchers. The second oldest lighthouse in Ontario is located here. It is also home to the largest protected marsh on Lake Ontario. It offers camping, trails for hiking including the boardwalk on the marsh and beautiful sandy beaches which is popular with day trippers.
Warsaw Caves Conservation Area is located near the village of Warsaw in the province of Ontario. The conservation area is popular for the group of caverns which is a geological feature in the limestone rocks. You can explore the caves from within which have long passages. The Indian River which flows through the area disappears underground under the limestone layers. It is a great place for kids to learn some geology.
Ferris Provincial Park is located in Campbellford, Ontario, next to the Trent River. There are a few biking and hiking trails and a nice suspension bridge over the Ranney Gorge. It is also popular for kayaking and canoeing on the Trent River through the gorge. There is a boat launch facility for launching into the Trent River.
Arrowhead Provincial Park is an Ontario Provincial Park located near Huntsville, Ontario in the Muskoka Region. An extremely popular park during both summers and winters, it provides various camping facilities such as car camping, trailer, RV, cabins. Activities to be done are hiking and biking during the summer season and skiing, skating and snow shoeing during the winter season. The park also allows for day trippers with a nice beach specifically for day use. The nearby town of Huntsville is a charming town which is great for a day trip.
